Buying a used boat is an exciting and sometimes confusing process. This video explains some of the things to do when looking for a used pontoon boat.
The first thing you have to do is ask yourself some questions. What size do you want the pontoon? Do you need a tritoon? Are sterndrive pontoons going to work for you? This will require some homework on your end, but will be well worth it to help make the best decision.
The next thing to consider is if you are going to buy from a dealer or off of someone privately. Private dealers can have fluctuating prices based on the market; you may get one for super cheap or you may get overcharged. Dealers offer more stable prices and more recourse if something goes wrong with the boat.
The diameter of your pontoon boat will also play a significant role. You want to make sure you get a boat above 23″, at least. 25″-27″ is optimal. This will allow you to have multiple people on board with no worries and more durability in the long run.
